What do you see?

When you gaze at the night sky
Do you count the stars?
Or look for constellations?
When you spin around a globe
Do you recall the wars?
Or try to find new nations?
And when you’re thinking ‘bout the ghetto
Tell me what you see.
Do you only see the death?
Does creation go unseen?
Ever notice how
The smallest of a cloud
Can take away the sun?
Do you think it right,
The clearest, summer sky
Is so easily undone?
And ever think about
How a rainstorm in a drought
Can ruin all the land?
I’ve been asking still
How oxygen can kill?
If we say that God made man.
When I think I’ve wove a pattern
Of truth in metaphor,
Then truth falls through the basket
And shatters on the floor.
Keep wondering the why,
And reasoning the how,
Rolling with answers,
But holding onto doubt.
As long as I am living
I’ll try to see the way unseen.
When death grants me a pardon
And the truth's revealed to me.
